• In Holes, Stanley Yelnats is scared of the yellow spotted lizards. Make up your own creature and feature it in a story.

• Norman Redpost, a character in one of Louis Sachar’s books is humiliated by an insensitive teacher.  Write about a real or fictional experience of a student who is humiliated by a teacher. Also, you should explain how the teacher could have corrected the student without humiliating him or her.

• Discuss why people are insensitive to other people’s feelings. Give examples of both kids and adults being insensitive.
